Area Performance Planning Advisory Committee sends draft ordinance to Spartanburg County Planning Commission
The Area Performance Planning Advisory Committee voted Friday to send a draft of the planning ordinance to the Spartanburg County Planning Commission for further review.
The vote was an important step in the development of the ordinance – a process that has lasted more than two years and involved many hours of deliberation. The effort included input from numerous stakeholders, as well as vetting by two citizen groups: the Technical Advisory Committee and the Advisory Committee.
In 38 years of municipal government work, this has been one of the most thorough and detailed processes I’ve ever been a part of. I personally want to thank the members of the community who participated, members of both committees and county staff for their collective efforts in shaping this important process. I especially would like to thank Foster Chapman, Chairman of the Technical Advisory Committee, and Jay Beeson, Vice-Chairman, as well as Whit Kennedy, Chairman of the Advisory Committee. Each of these gentlemen contributed many hours toward shaping of the document that is now being forwarded to the Planning Commission.
A copy of the draft ordinance is available here.
