Technical Advisory Committee sends draft of proposed changes to Advisory Committee

The Area Performance Planning (APP) Technical Advisory Committee on Wednesday elected to send a draft of proposed land ordinance changes back to the Advisory Committee for APP – a major step forward in the process.

After more than a year-and-a-half of careful deliberation, the Technical Advisory Committee, which consists of experts in a variety of development-related fields, such as builders, engineers and real estate professionals, approved a draft of the proposal. That document will be sent to the Advisory Committee for review and feedback, before ultimately moving forward to the Spartanburg County Planning Commission and Spartanburg County Council.

County Councilman Roger Nutt, who served on the Technical Advisory Committee, thanked all of his fellow committee members and staff for their time and expertise in working through the proposed regulations.

“I just want to say I appreciate everybody’s efforts,” Councilman Nutt said. “I think we worked through a lot of very difficult issues, in some cases that have been in place for years, and I think we’ve made some significant improvements.”

From the staff perspective, I would like to thank each of the committee members who have served throughout this process, providing critical input and guidance, including Councilman Nutt, and Committee Chairman Foster Chapman, and Vice Chairman Jay Beeson. Planning Commission Chairman Whit Kennedy also participated actively in this process.

And I would like to thank members of the public who have contributed their feedback throughout this portion of the Area Performance Planning process. Your thoughts have shaped decision-making and will continue to be vital as this process continues to move forward.
